Wow - what a good game and a great mark in the win column for a team that has been so poor the past 2 years. I hope we continue the momentum into 2010 and beyond and can get to that next level that Mac didn't seem to be able to reach. We all know there is room to grow - and a need to improve to reach next level , but i do see the attitude is there to help embelish the talent. The fact that the team sings the fight song to the band/fans after the game is a true show of their dedication to ISU and something you would not have seen with the previous coach. Anyone Going to Tempe?Score: 35December 28, 2009 10:54 am
As an alumnus, I am heading out to Tempe tomorrow night for the Insight Bowl. Just as a general inquiry, is anyone else going to Arizona to see the Cyclones beat the Golden Gophers? I think the Cyclones should have a good shot to come away with a bowl victory, though all in all it should be an excellent game. Category: NCAAF Iowa State winScore: 115October 25, 2009 2:31 pm
What about the win against Nebraska. That is the first time I have seen an Iowa State team close out a close game, that they weren't expected to win even, in a long time. Congratulations coach Paul Rhoads. I think we have opened a new chapter in Iowa State athletics. If we could only get the Mens basketball team to win like this we would have an all around great Athletic department. I know that I was origionally opposed to Pollard but he has really turned it around. When he fired Coach McCarney that was about the dumbest move he could have made. If you are going to get rid of somebody then you need to have somebody that you can actually count on to do something with the team. This is also the same thing with the basketball team. Yes Eustachy needed to have something done with him but they needed somebody of the same caliber to replace him. When they origionally hired Morgan he was decent but they needed to check him out because he wasn't the best coach and Stinson was never as good as he should have been. Now they just need to get on a winning season. This may be possible with the upcomming season. Lets hope it goes great and also chear on the Cyclones. We have a great athletic department lets show them we are proud of it Category: General Cyclones Going Bowling?Score: 100October 20, 2009 9:36 am
I have to say that this has been a terrific season so far for the Iowa State Cyclones. Between 2007 and 2008, the Cyclones went 5-19 under Gene Chizik. Under Paul Rhoades, the Cyclones are 4-3. Granted, the team has had tough losses against K-State and Kansas, but as a whole, the team has significantly improved and has a viable chance to qualify for a bowl game. Austin Arnaud has looked impressive this year, Alexander Robinson has taken this team to the next level, and for the most part the Cyclones have a reliable kicker. As we all know, Grant Mahoney is not making all of the field goals that he should be, and is missing some extra points, but our kicking situation is much improved from the past several years. As a 2007 alumnus, I have witnessed some of the worst kickers to set foot on a football field. At least now we can have faith in a more reliable kicker. The rest of the Cyclones schedule is relatively soft, between Texas A&M, Colorado and Mizzu. I'm not saying that the team can take these games lightly, but the team has a great shot to impress the rest of the Big XII and give themselves the reputation of a team that should not be overlooked. I hope we can continue to see this team improve on offense and defense, and let's hope the Cyclones are still playing at the end of December! GO STATE! Category: NCAAF Tags: Cyclones, Iowa State
